Whale Watching Report July 22, 2020

DateJuly 22, 2020

Good day everyone!  This report is written by a passenger onboard the “Naiad Explorer” today, Erin C., who is from Vancouver, BC.

Trip Highlights:  (where we went, what we saw, etc.)

Our trip first headed west towards Port Hardy and the big water in search of reported orcas.  We got distracted for a while by Domino, a humpback whale that showed us a few breaches.  We wandered without sighting the orcas, but when we got near Alert Bay, The captain got word of the fast-moving orcas down the strait.  We caught up with the huge pod near Telegraph Dove and followed along to see maybe 20 orcas.  Possibly southern residents, according to the scientist who was watching them.
