Whale Watching Report July 12, 2022

Trip Highlights:

We went out around Malcolm Island.  At first it was rather cloudy and chilly.   On our way out we saw sea otters having fun in the water.  Just when we saw the first whale blowing, the sky cleared up.  Perfect timing!  We were extremely lucky as four orca matriarchs were headed in our direction.  From then on it was hard to choose where to look as orcas were everywhere around us.  An amazing experience.  Later on we returned closer to shore where we spotted plenty of dolphins and even humpback whales.  The information given by the crew (one of them indigenous) were really interesting and rounded up the trip.  The highlight for us was a whirl pool created by the incoming tide where all species came together surround by an amazing view!
