Whale Watching Report August 15 2020

DateAugust 15, 2020

Good day everyone!  This report is written by a passenger on board the “Naiad Explorer” today, Tina Manders, who is from Courtenay, BC (formerly from Port McNeill and Sointula).

Trip Highlights(where we went, what we saw, etc.)

What an incredible day!  We saw at least 32 orcas in at least 5 different groups near Robson Bight.  At one point, they surrounded us – from a suitable distance!  We also managed to see 3 humpback whales – resting and one flipped its tail.  The weather was sunny and waves were calm.  Some Dall’s porpoises jumped in and out of the boat waves.  There were several seals spotted popping up to watch us.

Additional Comments:

The staff was friendly and informative.  They shared their knowledge easily, with the odd joke thrown in.  Thank you so much for a trip down memory lane!
